Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid is preparing land provision in various regions to support the construction of vertical housing settlements and satellite cities. “We from the Ministry of ATR/BPN have already prepared land in various areas to support the development of vertical housing. However, in the next stage, we are also preparing the development of new cities as a solution to reduce density in big cities,” said Nusron in his statement in Jakarta on Friday. The Ministry of ATR/BPN is strengthening support for the National Strategic Programme (PSN) through the development of vertical housing settlements and satellite cities. Nusron stated that support is provided through the provision of large-scale land in various regions of Indonesia. The Ministry of ATR/BPN has prepared potential land scattered in several regions, including Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. The total identified land in Indonesia reaches more than 129,000 hectares. “Our initial data shows there are about 129,764 hectares of identified land. However, the land that is truly potential for utilisation at this time is around 37,709 hectares,” said Nusron. For urban areas, the government prioritises the construction of vertical housing, especially for low-income communities. Meanwhile, for satellite city development, land on a larger scale is prepared. “For satellite cities, the land requirement is at least between 30 and 120 hectares per location. Whereas, for the development of certain areas, it can reach 100 hectares or more,” said Nusron. Meanwhile, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, stated that the availability of this land is a key factor in the success of the PSN. “We have a simple concept to implement the 3 Million Houses programme. We want the land for this house construction to be available,” said Maruarar, or Ara.
