Minister Mu'ti Urges Students to Use Orientation Week for Building Friendships and Good Habits
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has encouraged new students to build new enthusiasm and good habits through the series of activities in the 2026 Friendly School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS Ramah). He urged new students to use the MPLS activities not only as a moment to get to know the school environment, teachers, and new friends, but also to develop new good habits that can serve as provisions for the next stage of education. “To all my students, make use of this school environment introduction period to get to know friends, teachers, and the learning environment, while also building good habits as a foundation for the future, build new spirit, new friendships, and continue to develop your best talents and potential,” said Minister Abdul Mu’ti during a webinar entitled ‘Socialisation and Discussion of the 2026 Friendly MPLS’ in Central Jakarta on Monday afternoon. He emphasised that the Friendly MPLS is not merely a change of terminology, but also a change in perspective in welcoming new students. Therefore, the Minister also reminded educational units to provide a conscious, meaningful, and joyful learning experience through the series of MPLS activities. The implementation of the Friendly MPLS, he continued, must foster a culture of mutual respect, cooperation, clean and healthy living, and create a learning environment free from all forms of violence. To ensure this, his ministry has issued a Ministerial Decree containing guidelines for the implementation of MPLS activities to ensure they are free from hazing. He stated that the Ministerial Decree on Primary and Secondary Education Number 198 of 2026 concerning the Description of Friendly MPLS Materials contains material descriptions and implementation references for MPLS at every level of education.
