Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid said the appropriate use of technology in the digitalisation of the Social Protection (Perlinsos) programme has optimally integrated data on Indonesian citizens, enabling aid to be delivered precisely to those who need it.

According to her, this step is important to ensure that people entitled to social protection are no longer overlooked, as often happened when data collection was still carried out manually.

“Technology must work for the people. Connected data must lead to easier services, and easier services must ensure that people’s rights are delivered quickly, accurately, and fairly,” Meutya said during the trial of Perlinsos digitalisation in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, on Thursday.

Discussing more specifically the role of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs in Perlinsos, Meutya said her ministry is involved in procuring the Government Service Interconnection System (SPLP) as one of the key foundations of Perlinsos digitalisation.

Through SPLP, various government electronic systems can be interconnected and share data securely to support services that are simpler, faster, and better targeted.

Of course, all such data is prioritised for protection from a security standpoint, in line with the mandate of personal data protection regulations in Indonesia.

This data is also used in the Perlinsos digitalisation programme. Once connected to the Social Protection Portal, members of the public will be able to register for assistance independently without it taking a long time.

While speaking with residents at the Perlinsos digitalisation trial site in Sleman Regency, Meutya said the technology applied in Perlinsos is not intended to make things difficult for the public, but rather to make the process of delivering aid faster and more effective.

Therefore, people who are accustomed to using devices and are able to use digital services are directed to register independently.

However, for people who are not yet proficient in using gadgets, the government is not leaving them without support and is providing assistance through Perlinsos agents to help with the registration process.

After reviewing the entire Perlinsos digitalisation process in Sleman Regency, Meutya observed that technology in government programmes will be well targeted if it is implemented appropriately.

Technological innovations that are not difficult to access and are easy for many people to understand can have a real impact on those in need. This is also evident in the Perlinsos digitalisation process.

As of the first week of August 2026, a total of 61,112 families in Sleman Regency had registered on the Social Protection Portal.

This achievement demonstrates the importance of collaboration between the central government, regional governments, officials down to the village level, Perlinsos agents, and the public in making a programme successful.

The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs is committed to continuing to provide support in the form of connectivity and other digital infrastructure in addition to SPLP, so that the digital government technology ecosystem in Indonesia continues to develop and deliver more optimal services to the public, as now demonstrated in the Perlinsos digitalisation trial.
