Minister Meutya Hafid Hopes Indonesia Will Again Be Official World Cup Broadcaster
Medan (ANTARA) - Minister of Communications and Digital Meutya Hafid hopes Indonesia will continue to be trusted to serve as the official broadcaster for the next World Cup. “After 24 years, in 2026 we are once again the broadcaster for the World Cup. In the future, we can broadcast it again,” said Meutya Hafid during a World Cup final watch party in Medan on Monday. According to her, it is a matter of pride for Indonesia to be able to broadcast all World Cup matches, as the broadcasts serve as a stage of entertainment for the public. “This World Cup is thanks to President Prabowo Subianto. His intention is to provide entertainment for the Indonesian people wherever they are,” she said. The minister stated that the event also serves as a learning space for all members of society in their daily lives. She said the World Cup teaches people about sportsmanship, the meaning of struggle, and most importantly, a sense of unity. “That is President Prabowo’s message. The most important things about this event are joy, cheerfulness, and a sense of unity,” she said. Therefore, she invited all Indonesians, including the people of Medan, to pray that Indonesia will once again become the official broadcaster for the World Cup in the future. “Thank you to everyone who attended the 2026 World Cup final,” the minister said.
