Minister Meutya asks Central Information Commission to maintain public trust in information disclosure

Communication and Digital Minister (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid has asked the Central Information Commission (KIP) for the 2026-2030 period to maintain public trust in accurate and responsible information disclosure.

This role is considered important to support President Prabowo Subianto’s agenda of delivering a government that is open and trusted by the public.

“I ask that trust be properly maintained, both from the public and from institutions, towards KIP as a commission tasked by law to continue overseeing and measuring public information disclosure in the country,” Meutya said during an audience with KIP commissioners at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs office in Jakarta on Thursday.

The existence of this quasi-government institution is gradually becoming better known and gaining attention because it has succeeded in overseeing information disclosure.

“That is a good indicator. It means the public is increasingly aware of KIP’s role. The public has a great curiosity about public programmes and demands openness,” Meutya said.

In an era of very rapid information exchange, KIP faces the challenge of prioritising and sorting the information needs received from the public.

KIP must of course be able to ensure that the information provided to the public is accurate so that there is no misunderstanding in the reception of messages.

She expressed hope that KIP will continue to improve its performance in order to maintain public trust.

The KIP for the 2026-2030 period has a commissioner composition consisting of Handoko Agung Saputro as Chair, Hafidhah, Arman Fauzi, Dery Hendryan, Edi Purwanto, Joemarthine Chandra, and Rini Purwandari.
