The Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) of the Republic of Indonesia, Maruarar Sirait (Ara), has revealed the progress of the strategic gentengnisasi (roofing) programme. Ara said the programme will be carried out on a massive scale alongside the programme to renovate 400,000 homes across Indonesia.

He made the remarks after a meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, and the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Jakarta on Friday (10/7/2026). Initially, Ara said the programme would be implemented based on BPS data.

“Earlier, all BPS heads from across Indonesia were gathered. Several important points came at the direction of the Home Affairs Minister on how everything must be data-driven. The data comes from BPS,” Ara told reporters at the ministry.

He said the gentengnisasi programme will be implemented on a massive scale together with the programme to renovate 400,000 homes across Indonesia.

“This strategic programme and the good intentions of President Prabowo — for example the gentengnisasi initiative — will be executed immediately and massively through this home renovation programme covering 400,000 homes across Indonesia,” he said.

“As aides to the President, we have no vision or mission of our own; there is only the President’s vision and mission. And we carry it out in the field with good governance, good quality, good absorption and good coordination, because it is impossible to work alone,” he continued.

Ara said the Ministry of Housing will prepare a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the ministry, BPS and the Ministry of Home Affairs concerning data coordination for the programme’s implementation.

“Then, also at the direction of the Home Affairs Minister, we will prepare an MoU on how the three of us will work together regarding data coordination — with the Home Affairs Ministry, while we provide technical support,” he explained.

Ara detailed the home renovation programme, including 15,000 units for Indonesian citizens and 8,000 units for tuberculosis (TB) patients. A further 10,000 homes are allocated for the Social Ministry’s Sekolah Rakyat programme.

“There are also many breakthrough programmes within this home renovation scheme, including 15,000 units prepared for Indonesian citizens in border areas. Those affected by TB are also being prioritised, with 8,000 units,” he said.

“For the Sekolah Rakyat programme with Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, we are preparing 10,000 homes. We are also cooperating with Pak Fadli Zon in the cultural sector,” he added.

Ara said the programme exemplifies cooperation among ministers in the Red and White Cabinet, adding that this had been reported to President Prabowo Subianto.

“This is an example of how ministers under President Prabowo in the Red and White Cabinet can work together well, helping one another. And I have already reported to the President that this home renovation movement is greatly loved and welcomed by the Indonesian people,” he concluded.
