Minister Maman Confident that Rise in Non-Subsidised Fuel Prices Will Not Significantly Impact SMEs

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Maman Abdurrahman believes that the increase in non-subsidised fuel prices does not have a significant impact on SME actors.

Maman stated that the majority of small business actors still use subsidised energy such as diesel, Pertalite, and LPG.

“So I think for SMEs, in the context of fuel energy, there should be no impact,” he said at the Ministry of SMEs on Monday (27/4/2026).

“With the ongoing Middle East conflict, the fuel prices, both subsidised ones, have been kept stable. There is no increase,” he added.

Maman assessed that the main pressure felt by SME actors currently does not come from energy.

The complaints received by the Ministry of SMEs mostly relate to the increase in plastic prices as raw materials.

According to him, the surge in prices is triggered by disruptions in naphtha supply. This material is a hydrocarbon derivative that is largely supplied from the Middle East region.

“So on average, SME friends are complaining about the issue of rising plastic prices. That’s why we will follow it up immediately,” he said.

Some countries being explored include Africa, India, and the United States. This step is aimed at normalising the supply of raw materials.
