Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq highlighted the importance of strict supervision in waste management during his inspection of processing facilities in Klungkung Regency yesterday afternoon. Accompanied by Bali Governor Wayan Koster and Klungkung Secretary Anak Agung Gede Lesmana, Hanif visited the Local Waste Processing Site (TOSS) Center in Kusamba Village and the organic waste processing site in Gunaksa Village on Friday (17/4/2026).

During the visit, Hanif urged local governments not to relax their oversight, especially at the upstream stages of waste management. He assessed that the existing system, which is running well, must maintain its consistency.

After directly observing the processing at the TOSS Center, Hanif appreciated the efforts of the Klungkung Regency government. According to him, waste management and sorting in the area are already proceeding effectively.

Hanif emphasised that accelerating the handling of waste issues must be done comprehensively, from upstream to downstream.

“This is already separated, and upstream must continue to be maintained,” said Hanif.

Subsequently, Hanif inspected the composting site or processed organic waste located north of the Embung Tukad Unda area in Gunaksa Village, Dawan Subdistrict. He again reminded that supervision should be carried out consistently.

“This is important to ensure that the materials entering are appropriate for their purpose, so that in the future, it is hoped this can foster soil fertility,” he explained.

At the same location, Klungkung Secretary Anak Agung Gede Lesmana affirmed the Klungkung Regency government’s commitment to accelerating waste handling.

“We will accelerate the process so that waste handling in Klungkung can be more optimal and accountable in accordance with applicable regulations,” Lesmana stated.

In response to the visit, Lesmana hopes for stronger synergy between the central and local governments in realising sustainable waste management.

Particularly in efforts to support the creation of a clean environment in Klungkung.
