Minister Gives Three Messages to Students During School Orientation

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti provided motivation and three messages for students during the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) at SD Srengseng Sawah 15, Jakarta, on Tuesday. The Minister observed and joined in the MPLS activities, participating in morning exercises with the teachers and students. In his address, Mu’ti urged the children to return to school with a fresh spirit and enthusiasm for meeting new, pleasant friends. “Your grades are not the most important thing. What matters is that you are all enthusiastic about learning, okay? So once again, welcome back to school with a new spirit,” he said. Secondly, he said children need to have aspirations because they are the hope of the nation and state. Mu’ti called several new students to the stage and asked about their ambitions. One student named Olivia aspired to be a general practitioner, Ray wanted to be an astronaut, and Yusuf dreamed of becoming a police officer. “Whatever your dream, it is a hope you want to achieve when you grow up,” he said. Thirdly, Mu’ti spoke about practising the ‘Tujuh Kebiasaan Anak Indonesia Hebat’ (Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children). He called upon a student who had memorised the seven habits, and Arka from class 3A came forward to answer. “Wake up early, exercise, eat nutritious food, wake up early, worship, exercise, eat healthy and nutritious food, love learning, rest, and socialise,” Arka recited, receiving a bag as a gift from Mu’ti. After delivering his messages, Mu’ti interacted with the students, asking about their favourite foods and preferred sports, among other things. He then took the time to eat together with the children. “Alhamdulillah, the atmosphere was cheerful and they were also enthusiastic about returning to learning,” he said. The Minister expressed appreciation for the support from partners, including the Indonesian National Police (POLRI), the education office, teachers, and parents. During the MPLS, POLRI also provided education on safe schooling and played with the students.
