He noted that competition for the award is positive, adding that receiving it is not merely about displaying the certificate to family and children.

“But it also instils a sense of responsibility,” he said.

He stressed the need for a competitive culture within the prosecution service, stating that progress is impossible without competition.

“Even at national level, competition is inevitable. Therefore, those awarded tonight must not become complacent; they have a responsibility to uphold their personal and institutional reputations,” he added.

He encouraged those not awarded not to be disheartened, but to redouble their efforts.

“Winning this award is not just a one-off honour; I am certain the Attorney General closely monitors who excels, who deserves promotion, and who merits attention, as this is a key factor in his assessment,” he said.
