Jakarta — Indonesia’s Minister for Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has stated that integrating the PP Tunas programme, designed by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, with education ministry initiatives will strengthen oversight functions for teachers and educators.

He said the integration is primarily aimed at fostering a safe and comfortable school culture.

“We will integrate PP Tunas with our programme to build a school culture that is safe and comfortable,” said Minister Mu’ti in Jakarta on Friday.

He explained that the integration would enhance the role of form tutors equipped with counselling and guidance capabilities to accompany, facilitate, and support student learning processes, including monitoring gadget use during classroom instruction.

The ministry has also published guidelines on “7 Powerful Counselling Methods” to guide teachers in supporting students.

Previously, on Thursday 12 March, the ministry expressed support for the issuance of a joint decision by seven ministers on guidelines for the use and learning of digital technology and artificial intelligence across formal, non-formal, and informal education pathways.

Mu’ti stated that the ministry has undertaken various concrete measures to prepare for the implementation of digital technology and artificial intelligence in school learning.

“From the 2025–2026 academic year, coding and artificial intelligence have become optional subjects from primary level (Grade 5), junior secondary, and senior secondary education,” said Mu’ti.
