Minister Explains Schedule for 2026 Civil Servant Recruitment
Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini has stated that the government is still discussing the opening of this year’s civil servant candidate (CPNS) recruitment. However, the selection schedule cannot yet be announced as the government is still calculating staffing needs and fiscal capacity.
According to Rini, the discussions are being held with the Ministry of Finance to ensure budget availability before the government decides to open the selection. “CPNS remains a programme we are preparing. But we cannot answer when it will be because it still needs to be calculated,” Rini said at her office in Jakarta on Friday, 24 July 2026.
Furthermore, the Ministry of PANRB is still mapping the staffing needs across all ministries, agencies, and regional governments. This mapping not only calculates the number of employees required but also the competencies needed for each position. The results will be adjusted to align with President Prabowo Subianto’s priority programmes and the state’s fiscal capacity.
“The competencies needed have been submitted by government agencies. And of course, we must also pay attention to the formations for the President’s priority programmes,” she said.
On the other hand, Rini said the government is also still considering whether all vacant positions, including those resulting from retiring employees, will be filled through new recruitment. The determination of formations depends on the needs of each agency for specific competencies, such as teachers, forestry supervisors, and other technical positions. “Because there are teachers, forestry supervisors, and so on. So we have to calculate by taking into account our fiscal capacity,” Rini stated.
