Minister Dudy Reveals One App Operator Still Reviewing 8% Max Ojol Commission Cut Effective July 2026
Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi has revealed that the majority of ride-hailing companies are ready to implement the maximum 8% commission cut for online motorcycle taxis (ojol), a policy championed by President Prabowo Subianto. Only one operator, InDrive, is still conducting internal calculations regarding the new regulation, which is scheduled to take effect in July 2026.
Major companies such as Grab, GoTo, and Maxim have, in principle, expressed readiness to comply with the new provisions, although they will require some internal operational adjustments. Dudy confirmed this after a meeting with operators on Friday morning, 26 June 2026, at his office.
InDrive, which has traditionally focused on ride-hailing services with a commission rate of around 10%, is currently assessing the business balance following the reduction to 8%. The government acknowledges that each operator has distinct business characteristics, levels of competition, and market share, necessitating different adjustment periods.
Dudy emphasised that the government is committed to maintaining a balance between the interests of driver partners, the sustainability of the operators’ businesses, and customer comfort to ensure the optimal implementation of the new commission cap.
