Minister drafts cyber bills
JAKARTA: State Minister of Communications and Information Syamsul Mu'arif revealed on Wednesday that his office was drafting a set of "cyberlaws" in anticipation of the upsurge in crimes via the Internet.
Syamsul said the draft was being prepared by a coordinating team for Indonesian telecommunications and computer-related information (TKTI).
The draft laws outlined are the bill on the use of technology and the bill on electronic information and transactions.
Syamsul said some Cabinet ministers would be involved in the deliberation of the bills. They comprise the Syamsul, the minister of justice and human rights, the minister of trade and industry, and the minister of transportation. - JP
