Minister Dody Hanggodo Denies Using Private Jet for Official Trips

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has denied accusations that he used a private jet for official trips to Eastern Indonesia, a matter that had sparked public discussion. According to Dody, the aircraft he used was a state-owned plane operated by the Ministry of Transportation, not a privately chartered jet. “It was not a private jet. It was a state-owned aircraft operated by the Ministry of Transportation,” he said on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Dody explained that the use of non-commercial flights was necessitated by his packed schedule, which required him to move from one region to another within a short time. “If I land at a commercial airport, it is more a matter of timing. There is so much to do at the central office in Jakarta that I can only depart outside regular commercial flight schedules,” he stated. According to Dody, in a single day he could visit two to three provinces or several regencies to monitor infrastructure projects. “In one day, I can move between two to three provinces, or two to three regencies. That is why I need to use non-commercial flights,” Dody said. He added that upon arrival at his destination, his work activities often continued until late at night before he resumed his journey to another location the following day. Dody therefore stressed that the use of the state aircraft was solely to support the effectiveness of his duties, not the use of a private jet as had been rumoured. “As far as I know, to this day, I prefer to continue using state aircraft, not private jets as has been alleged,” Dody said.
