Minister Dody Hanggodo Denies Using Private Jet for Official Trips

Jakarta, VIVA – Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo has denied suggestions that he used a private jet to carry out a working visit to eastern Indonesia that has been widely discussed.

According to Dody, the aircraft he used belonged to the state and was operated by the Ministry of Transport, not a privately chartered plane.

“No, it is a state-owned aircraft operated by the Ministry of Transport,” Dody said, quoted on Thursday, 23 July 2026.

Dody explained that the use of a non-commercial aircraft was necessitated by a packed work agenda requiring him to move from one region to another in a short space of time.

“If I land at a commercial airport, it is more a matter of timing. There are many commitments at the central office in Jakarta, so I can only depart outside the official schedule of commercial flights,” he said.

According to Dody, in a single day he can visit two to three provinces or several regencies to monitor infrastructure projects.

“In one day I can move between two and three provinces, or between two and three regencies. That is why non-commercial flights are necessary,” Dody said.

He added that upon arriving at his destination, his work activities often continue late into the night before he resumes his journey to another location the following day.

Therefore, Dody emphasised that the use of the state aircraft was solely to support the effective execution of his duties, not the use of a private jet as has been circulating.

“To my knowledge, as of now, I prefer to continue using the state aircraft, not a private jet as has been claimed all this while,” Dody said.
