Minister Dody Ensures Transparency and Accountability of State Budget Management in Public Works

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo has ensured transparency and accountability in the management of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) at the Ministry of Public Works to maintain public trust amid issues related to searches conducted by the Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati DKI Jakarta). He admitted that the Ministry of Public Works has had a running management system, but it continues to be improved and updated following technological developments and the latest software in the world. “Actually, we already have a system, but this system is being improved from time to time, we update it with all kinds of software available in the world,” said Dody in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday. He explained that the system updates are expected to strengthen not only aspects of accountability and integrity but also to increase the effectiveness of budget use in every development programme run by the ministry comprehensively. “So the hope is not only issues of accountability, integrity, and effectiveness, but also benefits to the community,” he stated. According to him, every one rupiah spent on development must be able to provide multiplied benefits, even up to tens of times, for the community that directly feels the results of the programme. “That is what is always instructed by the President to us. One rupiah, one rupiah used to build something, must provide 10, 20 times benefit to the affected community. That’s what we are doing today,” he said. In addition, Dody revealed that the internal audit process in his ministry continues as part of efforts to maintain good governance. According to him, his ministry is also committed to supporting every process related to supervision and law enforcement in accordance with regulations, to ensure that government administration runs professionally and responsibly. “I was ordered by the President to clean up, yes, this is one of the things I have done. Something like that,” said Dody.
