Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo has denied allegations that he used a private jet for official visits to eastern Indonesia. He clarified that the aircraft in question was a state-owned plane operated by the Ministry of Transportation, not a privately chartered jet.

According to Dody, the use of non-commercial flights was necessitated by his tight schedule, which required him to move from one region to another in a short period. “I land at commercial airports mainly due to time constraints. With so many activities at the central office in Jakarta, I can only depart outside the official commercial flight schedules,” he said on Thursday (23/7/2026).

Dody noted that in a single day, he could visit two to three provinces or several districts to monitor infrastructure projects. “In one day, I can move between two or three provinces, or two or three districts. That is why I need to use non-commercial flights,” he stated.

He added that upon arriving at his destination, his work activities often continue until late at night before he resumes his journey to another location the following day. Dody stressed that the use of the state aircraft was solely to support the effectiveness of his duties, not the use of a private jet as had been widely rumoured. “To my knowledge, I still prefer to use the state aircraft, not a private jet as has been alleged,” Dody concluded.
