Minister Directs Dismissal of Detention Officials if Proven to Have Violated Rules on Inmate's Coffee Shop Visit

Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services (Imipas) Agus Andrianto has directed the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas) to follow up on the viral video of corruption convict inmate Supriadi visiting a coffee shop. Minister Agus has asked Ditjenpas to firmly address any violations by the relevant parties. This was conveyed by Kasubdit Kerja Sama Ditjen Pemasyarakatan Kemenimipas, Rika Aprianti, to detikcom reporters on Wednesday (15/4/2026). She explained that the prison head (KPLP), head of prison security (KPLP), and the officers guarding the inmate will be examined. “In accordance with the Minister’s directive, an examination will be conducted starting from the Prison Head, Head of Prison Security, to the officers escorting the incident in question,” said Rika. Rika explained that the sanctions imposed if the prison parties are proven to have committed violations are serious. Namely, up to dismissal from position. “And if violations are proven, action will be taken in accordance with applicable regulations, up to dismissal from position,” she added. On this occasion, Rika also expressed thanks to the public, which is deemed to have conducted social control over the performance and professionalism of Ditjenpas and its ranks. “Thank you to the public who have helped conduct social control, please continue to support us in carrying out guidance as well as enforcing rules, as an important part of implementing the socialisation of inmate residents,” concluded Rika. Previously reported, former Head of Kolaka Harbour Master, Supriadi, came under scrutiny for going to a coffee shop despite his status as a corruption convict. The Class IIA Kendari Detention Centre stated that Supriadi left custody officially to attend a case review hearing (PK). The moment Supriadi left custody was recorded in a video that went viral on social media. In the video viewed by detikcom, Supriadi walked from the mosque to a coffee shop on Jalan Abunawas, Bende Ward, Kadia Subdistrict, Kendari, on Tuesday (14/4) afternoon. Supriadi was accompanied by an official Harbour Master officer in formal attire. He appeared to be wearing a white peci with a brown batik top. Acting Head of Class IIA Kendari Detention Centre La Ode Mustakim told reporters on Tuesday (14/4) that Supriadi left the detention centre to the Kendari District Court with one escorting officer. He explained that in the video, there were actually other officers on guard. Mustakim stated that Supriadi finished attending the PK hearing around 11:00 WITA. Then Supriadi continued to be escorted by officers to return to the detention centre. “So they stopped to pray and eat first before returning to the detention centre. That’s where fellow journalists took pictures of him entering the coffee shop,” he explained. He emphasised that Supriadi’s departure from the detention centre was official to fulfil the summons from the Kendari District Court. However, he did not deny that the return process to the detention centre is being questioned.
