Minister: Danantara to finance subsidised flat construction in Meikarta

Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait has revealed that the financing for the construction of subsidised flats in the Meikarta area, Bekasi Regency, will come from Danantara. “The subsidised flats in Meikarta will also be financed by Danantara,” said Maruarar, known as Ara, in Jakarta on Tuesday. However, he stressed that the governance must be carried out properly. “But the governance must be correct and well prepared,” Ara said. He mentioned that the construction process will begin with land clearing in February 2026, followed by a ground breaking in March 2026, then the superstructure construction starting in August 2026, with a target for completion in August 2028. Ara emphasised that the government continues to promote various innovations for providing affordable vertical housing, particularly in Jakarta’s buffer zones. The government wants low-income communities to have access to decent, affordable housing close to economic activity centres and workplaces.
