Minister: Construction of 15,845 'Red and White' Village Cooperatives Completed
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono announced that the construction of 15,845 ‘Red and White’ Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDMP) has been fully completed, encompassing physical buildings, warehouses, retail outlets, and their supporting equipment. Speaking at the peak celebration of the 79th Cooperatives Day at the Indonesia Arena GBK, Jakarta, on Sunday, the minister stated that legal deeds for 83,000 KDMP entities have also been finalised. He noted that a further 19,539 KDMP are currently under construction, out of a total of approximately 35,000 planned units. The government is preparing to deploy trained managers to the completed cooperatives, with their training scheduled to conclude in early August 2026. The Minister requested President Prabowo Subianto to officially inaugurate the operations of the cooperatives, which is planned for August 2026. The government is targeting 40,000 operational KDMP by the end of 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen the village economy. Deputy Minister Farida Farichah added that the focus is not only on completing physical infrastructure but also on preparing human resources to manage the cooperatives professionally, with manager training taking place from 17 to 31 July 2026.
