Minister confirms land for Aceh Tamiang permanent housing is ready
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid has confirmed that land preparation for the construction of permanent housing (huntap) for 4,159 heads of families affected by hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh Tamiang Regency was completed by the end of November 2025.
“We are confirming that the land in Aceh Tamiang for the huntap is 100 per cent ready to use. There are no longer any issues regarding land availability,” said Nusron in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
With the completion of the land preparation, Nusron said the Ministry of ATR/BPN supports accelerating the construction of the huntap so that residents can soon have decent places to live.
“We ask all colleagues in government to accelerate the construction as quickly as possible. There are no more excuses because the land is ready,” said Minister Nusron while inspecting one of the huntap construction sites in Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang Regency.
To meet the huntap needs of 4,159 heads of families, the government has prepared approximately 179 hectares of land sourced from a number of companies, both state-owned and private.
One of the locations visited by Minister Nusron is on a 10-hectare site owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara I, where around 500 huntap units are planned to be built.
At that location, 108 houses have already been built with the support of the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation. Meanwhile, the construction of the remaining units will be continued by the government through the relevant ministries, in a process currently under way.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation for helping to build houses for people affected by the disaster,” said Nusron.
The Minister of ATR explained that the scheme for granting land rights for the houses to be occupied by residents will be adjusted according to the ownership status of the land. For land released by its owner, residents can obtain a Freehold Title Certificate (SHM).
Meanwhile, he said, if the land remains an asset of the owner, residents will obtain Building Rights (HGB) over Management Rights (HPL) in accordance with applicable regulations.
The government is targeting residents to begin occupying the huntap in phases from 2026, after the completion of basic infrastructure such as access roads, drainage, clean water and electricity.
The placement of residents will also be adjusted to locations close to their previous livelihoods so that economic activities can continue, while avoiding areas potentially affected by flooding again.
