Minister confirms land for Aceh Tamiang permanent housing is ready

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid has confirmed that land preparation for the construction of permanent housing (huntap) for 4,159 families affected by hydrometeorological disasters in late November 2025 in Aceh Tamiang Regency is complete. “We confirm that the land in Aceh Tamiang for huntap is 100 percent ready to use. There are no more issues regarding land availability,” Nusron said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday. With the land preparation complete, Nusron said the Ministry of ATR/BPN supports the acceleration of construction so that residents can soon have decent housing. “We ask all colleagues in the government to speed up the construction. There is no excuse because the land is ready,” the Minister said while inspecting one of the huntap construction sites in Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. To meet the needs of 4,159 families, the government has prepared approximately 179 hectares of land from several companies, both state-owned and private. One of the locations visited by the Minister is on land owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara I covering 10 hectares, where around 500 housing units are planned. At that location, 108 houses have already been built with support from the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation. The construction of the remaining units will be continued by the government through relevant ministries, which is currently in process. “I would like to thank the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation for helping to build houses for the disaster-affected community,” Nusron said. The Minister explained that the scheme for granting land rights for the houses will be adjusted according to the land ownership status. For land released by the owner, residents can obtain a Certificate of Ownership (SHM). Meanwhile, if the land remains an asset of the owner, residents will receive a Building Use Right (HGB) on a Management Right (HPL) in accordance with applicable regulations. The government is targeting residents to start occupying the permanent housing in phases by 2026, after the completion of basic infrastructure such as roads, drainage, clean water, and electricity. The placement of residents will also be adjusted to locations close to their previous livelihoods to ensure economic activities continue, while avoiding areas potentially affected by future flooding.
