State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi has revealed that the Attorney General has formally submitted a candidate’s name for the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) to President Prabowo Subianto. The palace has confirmed that the deliberation process will be accelerated through the Final Assessment Team (TPA) mechanism, with the presidential decree targeted for issuance this week. Prasetyo explained that the proposal letter from the Attorney General was only received by the president on Tuesday (14/7). The letter was submitted to fill the Jampidsus position left vacant after the previous official resigned. ‘We can officially report that as of yesterday, Tuesday the 14th, the Attorney General has officially sent a letter to the President proposing a candidate to replace the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, who resigned some time ago,’ Prasetyo said after attending an agenda at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (15/7). Prasetyo confirmed that Kuntadi has been proposed as the candidate for Jampidsus. ‘Based on the letter, yes,’ he said. He stated that the government requires time to process the proposal as it must go through the TPA mechanism, which is the standard procedure for filling strategic positions. ‘Because the letter was only received yesterday, we ask for time. Perhaps today we will immediately follow up on what the Attorney General has proposed,’ he added. Regarding the issuance of the Presidential Decree to appoint the new Jampidsus, Prasetyo stressed that they are still awaiting the completion of the TPA process. Nevertheless, the government is striving to expedite this stage. ‘God willing, this might be one of the processes we need to accelerate compared to others,’ Prasetyo said.
