Minister Clarifies No Layoffs at TikTok-Tokopedia, Only Internal Restructuring

Manpower Minister Yassierli has clarified that there are no layoffs occurring at TikTok Group, following a meeting with the company’s management. Speaking at the DPR building in Jakarta on Monday, Yassierli stated that the changes taking place are part of an internal organisational restructuring, not workforce reductions. “We met with TikTok Group regarding the layoff issue. It was explained that there are no layoffs. So we are clarifying the circulating news,” Yassierli said. The company is currently undertaking internal mobility and organisational adjustments, and is simultaneously recruiting new employees. The government stressed that this clarification is crucial to prevent public misunderstanding, as employment issues must be communicated based on official data and explanations from both the company and the government.
