Minister Calls for Unified Vision in Hajj and Umrah Ecosystem

Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf has emphasised that all stakeholders must move forward with a single vision to deliver Hajj and Umrah services that are safe, comfortable, orderly, compliant with Sharia, and uphold the principles of transparency. “The entire ecosystem must grow in one direction, towards serving pilgrims with safety, comfort, order, Sharia compliance, transparency, accountability, and dignity,” said Gus Irfan at the opening of the International Islamic Expo 2026 at the Jakarta Convention Centre on Friday. He stated that all elements within the Hajj and Umrah industry are expected to adapt to the times without neglecting the principles of service and protection for pilgrims. He stressed that synergy between the government, businesses, and the public is the main factor in creating professional industry governance. Compliance with regulations, both by government and private organisers, is an important foundation for ensuring that the organisation of Hajj and Umrah runs in a civilised manner and provides certainty for all parties. Gus Irfan affirmed the government’s commitment to continuously improving the quality of Hajj services. He noted that innovations and service achievements that have been successful must be maintained, while aspects requiring refinement will be the focus of improvements for the next Hajj season. “We must preserve and continue to apply proven good practices, while adopting new and better experiences to enhance the quality of Hajj services,” he said. The International Islamic Expo 2026, held from 26 to 28 June 2026 at the JCC Jakarta, serves as a consolidation platform for various stakeholders. The event brings together the government, Umrah travel organiser associations, special Hajj organisers, airlines, accommodation providers, Sharia financial institutions, the halal industry, and international partners.
