Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has stated that graduates in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province must be of high quality to face the rapidly developing era of disruption. “In this era of disruption, everything must be quality-oriented. If we are not of quality, we will be left behind,” he said while attending the 17th Graduation Ceremony of Muhammadiyah University of Bangka Belitung in Pangkalpinang on Thursday. “It is through innovation and creativity that we can survive, and even become leaders of change for this nation,” he said. According to him, graduates are not only those who can adapt to change, but those who can design the change itself. He referenced a book titled ‘The World in 2050’ which explains that the future world will be marked by the disappearance of thousands of types of jobs. However, at the same time, far more new types of jobs will emerge. “Those who will succeed are those who continue to learn, continue to adapt, and are able to turn every change into an opportunity,” he said. He stated that this success is also determined by mindset, a way of thinking that is oriented towards continuous growth. In addition, a strong mentality is needed to face various challenges in this era of disruption. “Do not have a ‘tempeh mentality’, let alone a ‘cracker mentality’. A cracker, when dry, sounds hard. But once it gets wet, it becomes soggy. Do not be that kind of person,” he said.
