Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia conducted negotiations for the purchase of crude oil and LPG from Russia during his meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev in Russia on Tuesday.

“Alhamdulillah, what has been agreed upon has yielded quite good results, where we can obtain reserves of crude (crude oil) to supplement ours. In addition, we will also be able to obtain LPG,” Bahlil stated in his official remarks received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Russia expressed its readiness to support Indonesia’s energy resilience, including supplies of oil, natural gas, and storage.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from several Russian energy companies, including Rosneft, Ruschem, Zarubezhneft, and Lukoil.

Bahlil emphasised that the cooperation is being explored through government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) schemes, which are expected to provide certainty for the availability of national energy reserves, particularly for crude oil and LPG in Indonesia.

On the other hand, Bahlil conveyed that Indonesia is open to expanding the scope of collaboration with Russia, including the development of crude storage, long-term supplies of crude oil and LPG, nuclear exploration, and cooperation in the mineral sector.

“We want all of this to truly provide certainty for national energy resilience,” he said.

Bahlil assessed that the meeting’s outcomes send a positive signal for strengthening national energy resilience amid uncertain global dynamics.

He viewed the partnership with Russia as an important option, given the country’s substantial energy production capacity and its experience in the oil and gas industry.

“Once again, I am pleased today because of the directives from President Prabowo to follow through thoroughly. And alhamdulillah, once again I say that insyaallah we can obtain good results,” Bahlil stated.

Amid the volatility of the global energy market influenced by geopolitical factors and production fluctuations, the government is making maximum efforts to seek alternative sources.

Russia is considered to hold a strategic position as a reliable energy supplier and potential partner for long-term cooperation.

In this bilateral meeting, Russia expressed its readiness to assist Indonesia in strengthening energy resilience.

“As a strategic partner, we are ready to collaborate, especially in the provision of oil and gas, storage, or electricity in this case nuclear power plants,” said Sergey Tsivilev.

The Indonesian government views Russia as an important partner in supporting stability and safeguarding economic interests and growth.

This diplomatic step reaffirms Indonesia’s commitment to remaining active, constructive, and oriented towards national interests on the global stage.
