Minister Bahlil Inaugurates Mini LNG Plant in Tuban, East Java

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has inaugurated the Mini LNG Plant of PT Sumber Aneka Gas in Tuban, East Java, to encourage the utilisation of natural gas for the national economy.

“Today we inaugurate the SAG plant. May Almighty God bless and protect this business well,” said Bahlil during the inauguration in Tuban, East Java, on Thursday.

The PT Sumber Aneka Gas (SAG) Mini LNG Plant is a gas processing facility that produces multi-energy products including LNG, CNG, LPG, condensate, and planned liquid CO2.

The Mini LNG Plant project commenced in 2015 and is expected to enter the commissioning phase or LNG operations by 2026.

“I see this as a tangible achievement by a company to meet our domestic needs,” Bahlil stated.

The gas supply is sourced from the Sumber Field of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Tuban East Java, with a projected volume of 15 MMSCF per day until 2035. The facility includes a cryogenic storage capacity of 1,600 m3.

The maximum production capacity of this mini LNG plant is equivalent to 55,300 tonnes per year. Additionally, production capacities for other products include 9,800 tonnes of LPG per year, 19,600 barrels of gas condensate per year, and 21,000 tonnes of liquid CO2 per year.

Furthermore, PT SAG’s natural gas processing facility is capable of producing compressed natural gas (CNG) with a capacity of 6 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd). The production output and storage infrastructure are designed to support an LNG supply chain based on land transport.
