Minister Bahlil Guarantees LPG Availability in Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, has guaranteed that the availability of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Indonesia is secure, as long-term contracts have been secured from the United States (US).
“LPG is no issue, because we have obtained long-term contracts,” Bahlil stated during the Innovation Technology for Social and Environmental Awards (InTechSEA) event held in Jakarta on Monday.
Bahlil explained that these long-term contracts are part of a larger US$15 billion agreement to import energy commodities from the United States.
Consequently, in addition to ensuring the availability of LPG in Indonesia, Bahlil also guaranteed that the price of non-subsidised LPG will not be increased.
“Regarding our long-term contracts, one of them for LPG is from America. As for Russia, we have only discussed crude oil. For LPG, it is still from America,” said Bahlil.
Previously, Bahlil also emphasised that national fuel reserves are safe, standing at approximately 20 days, which is close to the national minimum standard of 21–28 days.
This statement comes in response to reports of long queues for fuel purchases at several petrol stations, particularly those occurring in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
