Minister Bahlil Ensures Energy Stability Through Diversification
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia accompanied President Prabowo Subianto at the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu, Philippines, to ensure national energy stability is maintained through energy diversification.
“The current global energy situation is uncertain. We must carry out energy diversification, so that when one energy source is difficult to obtain, we still have other energy sources,” Bahlil stated in a written statement confirmed by ANTARA from Jakarta on Friday.
Bahlil explained that this meeting is being held to ensure energy security and resilience in the ASEAN region through energy diversification efforts, which is one of the keys to facing the energy crisis currently sweeping the global world.
“Fortunately, Indonesia has many alternative energy sources besides fossils, which also play a strategic role in energy security efforts,” Bahlil said.
The development of 100 Gigawatt Solar Power Plants (PLTS), mandatory biodiesel that will soon be increased to 50 per cent, and the increase in the use of electric vehicles are the main priority steps of the government.
This statement is in line with what was conveyed by President Prabowo at the plenary session of the 48th ASEAN Summit.
President Prabowo stated that ASEAN countries must be prepared to face disruptions in energy supplies that could occur over a prolonged period.
