Minister Bahlil Asserts Coal Supply to PLN Is Secure
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the coal supply to PT PLN (Persero) is secure and that the power outages are more related to technical operational and distribution aspects, which are PLN’s responsibility. “I have asked PLN to immediately take measured, comprehensive steps to provide comfort for customers with no more blackouts,” said Minister Bahlil in an official statement received in Jakarta on Sunday. According to Bahlil, the issue of power outages is not caused by a shortage of coal supply for power plants. He emphasised that the government, through the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal (Minerba), has anticipated PLN’s power plant fuel needs by assigning tasks to national coal companies. “Technically, getting it to the power plant is not the task of the Director General of Minerba. That is already a technical matter of PLN’s logistics management,” he said. According to Bahlil, the problems that arise are more related to technical operational and distribution aspects, which are PLN’s responsibility. He revealed that he had communicated directly with PLN’s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, to ensure that handling measures are carried out as quickly as possible.
