The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that pioneer sea transport services, which had previously experienced delays, have now returned to normal operations. The government stressed that pioneer ship operations will continue until the end of the fiscal year to ensure public mobility and the distribution of essential goods to remote areas are not disrupted.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi stated that despite facing budget constraints, the government has made various adjustments to ensure pioneer transport services continue without interruption. "We will continue to implement pioneer services until the fiscal year ends. So, given the budget conditions, we are finding ways around it, and the most important thing is that the service does not stop," Dudy said in a statement on Tuesday (21/7/2026).

To maintain smooth operations, the Ministry of Transportation conducts daily monitoring of ship operations, sailing schedules, and cargo capacity. The government is also proposing additional budget allocations to anticipate potential service disruptions in the future.

In the long term, the ministry believes the sustainability of pioneer transport requires stronger funding support. Additionally, the government is encouraging improvements in fleet quality, port infrastructure development, strengthening the integration of the national logistics system, increasing port capacity and intermodal connectivity, as well as periodic evaluations of route networks to ensure they remain aligned with community needs and regional economic developments.

According to Dudy, the provision of pioneer transport subsidies is part of the government’s effort to maintain transport access to areas not yet served commercially while strengthening national connectivity. "In the 2026 fiscal year, 107 pioneer ship routes, 41 Sea Toll routes, 6 special livestock ship routes, and 18 rede transport routes are being operated to guarantee transport access and logistics distribution," Dudy said.
