Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Arifah Fauzi, has urged the police to immediately apprehend a man, identified by the initials T (30), who is accused of the confinement and severe assault of a woman, YTR (29), in Cinunuk, Cileunyi District, Bandung Regency, West Java.

“We encourage the perpetrator to be arrested immediately and processed in accordance with the applicable laws,” said Minister Arifah Fauzi in Jakarta on Monday.

Her office expressed deep concern regarding the severe physical abuse suffered by the victim. The victim is alleged to have been tortured for three years by the perpetrator, who remains a fugitive.

“We are deeply concerned about the victim’s condition, having endured such heinous violence over a very long period, resulting in serious physical and psychological injuries. The victim must receive protection, legal assistance, and maximum rehabilitation,” said Arifah Fauzi.

In this case, it was discovered that the victim had been missing and unreachable by her family for approximately three years. During this period, the victim moved between various locations and was known to be living with the suspect without any marital bond.

The victim is alleged to have experienced various forms of physical violence, ranging from being beaten with bare hands to being assaulted with blunt and sharp objects.

As a result of the prolonged violence, the victim sustained severe injuries to her head, face, and legs, as well as visual impairment, damage to her lips causing difficulty in speaking, and impaired leg function that prevents her from walking normally.

“The victim’s recovery must focus not only on her physical condition but also her psychological state. Therefore, we are ensuring that the victim will receive assessments, counselling services, and the necessary psychological support to assist her recovery process. Meanwhile, the victim’s family will receive psychological support so they can serve as the primary support system in her recovery,” said Minister Arifah Fauzi.
