Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi has condemned the alleged sexual harassment case involving 16 students at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia (FHUI). “We strongly condemn all forms of harassment against women, including those carried out through digital chat groups. Such actions not only degrade women’s dignity but also create an unsafe environment, particularly in academic spaces,” said Minister PPPA Arifah Fauzi in Jakarta on Tuesday. The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection is committed to overseeing the handling of this case to ensure the victim receives protection, support, and justice in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. “Every form of sexual harassment, including that conducted through closed conversations in digital spaces, constitutes a violation of human rights and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances,” said Arifah Fauzi. Minister Arifah Fauzi appreciated the campus’s prompt actions in conducting an investigation through the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (PPKPT), including initial steps and internal mechanisms. “We encourage Universitas Indonesia to conduct a comprehensive investigation and handling through the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education (PPKPT), including imposing firm sanctions on those proven to be involved,” she said. Arifah Fauzi also hopes that similar incidents will not recur, either at that campus or in other higher education environments.
