Minister Ara Reports to Prabowo on House Renovation Programme, Targeting 400,000 Units

President Prabowo Subianto summoned Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, known as Ara, to the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon, 9 June 2026. Also present alongside Minister Maruarar was Standard Chartered Indonesia President Director Rino Santodiono Donosepoetro. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya explained in a written statement that during the meeting, President Prabowo received a report on the progress of several priority programmes in the housing sector aimed at improving the quality of public housing and expanding access to decent and affordable homes. One of the items reported was the development of the House Renovation Programme. This programme targets the repair of 400,000 uninhabitable homes into safe and comfortable liveable homes for communities across various regions. Cabinet Secretary Teddy stated, ‘The progress of the House Renovation Programme which targets the repair of 400,000 uninhabitable homes into safe and comfortable liveable homes for communities in various regions.’ Additionally, Cabinet Secretary Teddy mentioned that Minister Maruarar also conveyed the progress of subsidised flat construction in the Meikarta area, Bekasi Regency. ‘The progress of subsidised flat construction in the Meikarta area, Bekasi Regency, as part of accelerating the 3 Million Homes Programme, which has now entered the land clearing and groundbreaking stages,’ he continued. Furthermore, Cabinet Secretary Teddy explained that Minister Maruarar also reported a plan to expand the House Renovation Programme in 2027 to broaden the reach of benefits for communities in need. Cabinet Secretary Teddy stated that President Prabowo had given his approval to the plan. On that occasion, Cabinet Secretary Teddy conveyed that the government continues to push the implementation of priority programmes in the housing sector, including the construction of subsidised homes for low-income communities, flat construction, slum area upgrading, and the development of more accessible housing financing schemes. ‘These efforts are part of the government’s commitment to realising decent, affordable, and quality housing for all Indonesian people,’ concluded Cabinet Secretary Teddy. The move is part of President Prabowo’s broader vision to ensure that development not only delivers economic growth but also brings welfare that can be directly felt by the people through access to decent, affordable, and quality housing.
