Minister Ara Involves BSN in Building 73,000 Subsidised Houses for Low-Income Communities
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) is involving PT Bank Syariah Nasional (BSN) in financing 73,000 subsidised houses to broaden access to decent housing for Low-Income Communities (MBR) in Indonesia.
“We discussed it earlier, we’ve had a meeting, we talked one-on-one. First, for the 73,000 (subsidised houses) target, I’m optimistic. I’ve seen the steps, the human resources are being prepared, as well as the roadmap, and there will also be steps for landed houses, which last year were quite good,” said Ara after a meeting with BSN President Director Alex Sofjan Noor in Jakarta on Wednesday.
She stated that with BSN’s achievement in distributing subsidised houses in the previous year reaching around 59,000 units, this becomes an important foundation in accelerating the realisation of this year’s subsidised housing target.
Ara assessed that BSN’s board of directors and team are working solidly and are capable of preparing strategic steps to expand access to financing and the construction of subsidised housing in Indonesia.
In addition to subsidised housing financing, the government, together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), is preparing the implementation of People’s Business Credit (KUR) for the housing sector, which will soon be carried out by BSN in the near future.
Ara said she had contacted OJK Commissioner Chairman Friderica Widyasari Dewi (Kiki), whose institution fully supports the implementation of housing KUR, including adjustments to the SLIK system to accelerate access to financing for the public and property sector business actors.
She explained that the housing KUR programme is a new policy of the Prabowo Subianto administration to support MSMEs, developers, contractors, and building material shops through low-interest government-subsidised financing.
“Mrs Kiki (OJK Chair) strongly supports the process for the housing KUR that will be carried out by BSN. The preparations are already very mature. Hopefully, at the latest in two months, it can be rolled out,” said Ara.
Ara added that the government is also discussing plans for new city developments that encompass MBR housing, middle-class areas, education facilities, healthcare, places of worship, and integrated sports facilities for the community.
She revealed that the Minister of Law has recommended land of around four to five hectares in Tangerang Regency to become one of the pilot locations for new city development together with BSN.
Meanwhile, BSN President Director Alex Sofjan Noor affirmed that his side is ready to fully support the government’s programme and become a main player in the national subsidised mortgage programme.
“BSN is committed to distributing 73,700 FLPP scheme Subsidised Mortgages in 2026 through various digital service innovations and strengthening collaboration with the property ecosystem,” said Alex.
He explained that BSN’s consistency and commitment in distributing subsidised mortgages for MBR continues to be reflected in the annual increase in realisation performance. Previously, in 2025, the subsidised mortgage realisation was 59,463 units, then becoming 73,700 units in 2026.
Furthermore, BSN’s achievements up to the end of April 2026 place the company in second place nationally with a 23.4 per cent market share in subsidised housing mortgages.
In the sharia banking segment, BSN holds the first position and dominates the sharia subsidised mortgage market share reaching 84 per cent or equivalent to 16,523 units.
“This happens to be our core business,” said Alex.
