Minister Appreciates OSC Scholarship for Expanding Higher Education Access

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto has expressed appreciation for the Online Scholarship Competition (OSC) Awards 2026 as a form of public collaboration in expanding access to higher education for Indonesia’s younger generation. He noted that the high public enthusiasm for participating in scholarship programmes like OSC demonstrates a strong desire to pursue higher education. The government itself funds more than 1.2 million students annually with a budget exceeding Rp15 trillion, but collaboration with other parties remains necessary to provide wider access to information for prospective students from various backgrounds. “We also encourage students to proactively seek various scholarship sources,” he said. The minister observed that many prospective students, particularly those in regional areas, have high potential and ambition to continue their studies but lack adequate information about available financial aid schemes. He therefore appreciated OSC’s efforts to reach out to areas beyond major cities. The ministry is currently compiling information on various scholarship programmes from different providers to make it more accessible to the public. Brian expressed hope that OSC scholarship recipients would make the most of the opportunity and continue to excel, adding that today’s scholarship awardees could become tomorrow’s scholarship providers. The OSC 2026 programme offered 145 scholarship quotas from 10 partner universities, attracting high enthusiasm with over 7,000 participants from across Indonesia taking part in the selection process.
