Minister Amran urges agricultural officials to uphold integrity and avoid corruption
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has asked all officials at the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Food Agency (Bapanas) to maintain integrity, steer clear of corruption, and professionally oversee the nation’s sustainable agricultural development.
Amran, who also serves as Head of Bapanas, stressed that all officials under his leadership are obliged to safeguard agricultural development by upholding integrity as the main foundation for providing the best service to the public.
“I thank you. The gift for the Independence Day anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia is our self-sufficiency and rice exports to Malaysia. That is because of your hard work. I do not want you to have worked hard, toiled day and night, worked Saturdays and Sundays, only to get into trouble because of corruption,” the Minister said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He made the remarks while inaugurating a number of Echelon I and Echelon II officials within the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Food Agency.
Amran asked all officials to understand and implement every point of the integrity pact, not merely sign the document, so that anti-corruption values are truly applied in the execution of daily duties.
He stressed that all forms of corruption, collusion, nepotism, acceptance of gifts, and conflicts of interest must be avoided in order to maintain professionalism and the institution’s credibility in the eyes of the wider public.
Amran also urged all civil servants to be brave in reporting any integrity violations they discover so that governance becomes cleaner, more transparent, and more accountable in supporting national agricultural sector development.
According to him, the meritocracy system must be upheld by stopping the practice of soliciting positions and intervention in promotions so that every civil servant obtains opportunities based on competence and actual performance.
Amran assured that every report of alleged violations will be followed up fairly through examination so that civil servants who work professionally continue to receive protection as well as certainty in carrying out their duties.
He reminded all officials to protect the good name of themselves, their families, and the institution by avoiding legal violations because the impact could undermine public trust in the ministry as a whole.
Amran expressed hope that the Ministry of Agriculture will be able to produce the best bureaucrats and state civil servants who work professionally, with integrity, and serve as role models in providing services to the Indonesian people.
He also invited all officials to work honestly, maintain their health, prioritise fairness, and build national agriculture through professionalism that makes their families, the institution, and the nation proud.
