Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has highlighted the significant potential for cooperation between Indonesia and Canada in the infrastructure and regional development sectors. AHY stated that the Indonesian government is promoting infrastructure development that not only focuses on physical construction but also strengthens inter-regional connectivity, enhances regional competitiveness, expands equitable development, and reinforces national resilience. “We see Canada as a serious partner, one that has capacity and is reliable. We hope that cooperation in infrastructure and sustainable development will become one of the main pillars of Indonesia-Canada relations in the future,” AHY said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. The minister made the remarks after receiving a farewell courtesy call from the Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, H.E. Jess Dutton. The meeting served as a momentum to reaffirm both countries’ commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership. A key topic of discussion was the acceleration of the Indonesia–Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA) implementation, which is expected to broaden trade, investment, and economic collaboration opportunities. Both parties also exchanged views on potential cooperation in water management and explored investment prospects through collaboration between Export Development Canada (EDC) and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA). AHY welcomed this interest, noting that such collaboration opens up opportunities for investment development in various strategic sectors, including infrastructure, clean energy, renewable energy, and other sectors supporting sustainable development.
