Minister AHY Highlights Canada as Serious, Reliable Partner for Infrastructure Cooperation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has highlighted the significant potential for cooperation between Indonesia and Canada in the infrastructure and regional development sector.
“We see Canada as a serious partner with capacity and one that can be relied upon. We hope that cooperation in the fields of infrastructure and sustainable development will become one of the main pillars of Indonesia-Canada relations in the future,” AHY said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The Indonesian government continues to promote infrastructure development that focuses not only on physical construction, but also on strengthening connectivity between regions, enhancing regional competitiveness, expanding equitable development, and reinforcing national resilience.
AHY assessed that relations between Indonesia and Canada have now developed beyond merely good intergovernmental ties. The partnership between the two countries is increasingly oriented towards concrete cooperation based on trust, delivering tangible benefits for the peoples of both nations.
Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) received a farewell courtesy call from the Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, H.E. Jess Dutton.
The meeting served as a moment to affirm both countries’ commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership, particularly in infrastructure, investment, and sustainable development.
One of the main topics discussed at the meeting was the acceleration of the implementation of the Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA), which is expected to further expand trade, investment, and economic collaboration opportunities between the two countries.
In addition, the two exchanged views on the potential for cooperation in water management as one of the strategic sectors supporting sustainable infrastructure development in Indonesia.
AHY welcomed Canada’s interest in continuing to participate in Indonesia’s development, including through cooperation between Export Development Canada (EDC) and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA).
This collaboration is seen as opening opportunities for investment development in various strategic sectors, such as infrastructure, clean energy, renewable energy, and sectors that support sustainable development.
