Minister Agus Andrianto Explains Why Febrie Adriansyah Was Only Banned from Travel for 20 Days
Minister of Immigration and Community Affairs (Imipas), Commissioner General of Police (Ret.) Agus Andrianto, has revealed the reason why former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah was only banned from travelling abroad for 20 days after being named a suspect in a case of alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU). Agus stated that the travel ban on Febrie and his colleague, Don Ritto, was imposed at the request of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. However, the ban is only temporary until a new request is submitted by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). “It is because it is still temporary. It was previously submitted by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. So we granted 20 days. We are waiting for the Attorney General’s Office,” Agus said after a meeting at the House of Representatives (DPR) on Tuesday (14/7). “We will wait; after the 20 days, there will be another request from the Attorney General’s Office,” he added. The travel ban on Febrie and Don Ritto was based on a request from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police via letter B/12730/VII/RES.3.3/2026/Ditreskrimsus dated 11 July 2026, after both were named suspects. However, the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) has since officially transferred the handling of three cases of alleged corruption and money laundering involving Febrie to the Attorney General’s Office. Head of the National Police’s Kortastipidkor, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, stated that the transfer of the cases was the result of an agreement between the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office as a form of synergy in case handling. “We have agreed with the Attorney General’s Office that the investigation of the three cases has been transferred to the Attorney General’s Office in the spirit of synergy, as conveyed by the Acting Jampidsus,” he said at the Attorney General’s Office on Saturday (11/7). Don Ritto is charged under Article 4 and/or Article 5 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of Money Laundering, or Article 607 paragraph (1) letters b and c of the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, suspect Febrie is alleged to have been involved in corruption and/or money laundering in the legal handling of state officials in the PT Asabri case and other alleged corruption cases. Febrie is suspected of violating provisions in the Corruption Eradication Law and the Money Laundering Law. However, currently, only Don Ritto is being detained at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
