Minister Addresses Red and White Village Cooperatives Built in Non-Ideal Locations

Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono has identified fewer than ten Red and White Village Cooperative outlets that have been built in non-ideal locations. “That is a small percentage,” Ferry said at the Ministry of Cooperatives office in Jakarta on Thursday, 2 July 2026. He explained that the findings regarding the non-ideal cooperative locations were the result of following up on public complaints, including those made via social media. Ferry stated that the number of non-ideal cooperative outlet locations is relatively small compared to the current total of 30,000 cooperative sites. The Gerindra Party politician explained that the determination of Red and White Village Cooperative locations is the result of government verification, which is then deliberated through consensus between the community and the village head. “We will find a solution if it is deemed lacking,” he said. Data from the Red and White Village/Sub-district Cooperative Management Information System showed that 38,045 plots of land had been proposed as locations for cooperative buildings as of Thursday, 2 July 2026. Of these, 2,171 plots remain unverified. Meanwhile, on the same date, 35,874 plots had been verified. This total consists of 512 plots where construction has not yet begun and 20,706 locations currently under construction. From this total, 14,656 village cooperative outlets have been completed.
