Minister: 2026 Economic Census to Strengthen Labour Policy Formulation

Minister of Manpower Yassierli has stated that the 2026 Economic Census will serve as a crucial foundation for formulating more targeted labour policies. He assessed that the census would produce comprehensive data on various aspects of economic activity. “The 2026 Economic Census will provide a complete picture of business sector developments, the distribution of economic activities, business scale characteristics, and workforce utilisation,” said Yassierli. He explained that through this data, the government can map employment developments, workforce skill requirements, and productivity improvement needs. Furthermore, the Minister stated that the results of the 2026 Economic Census can also be utilised to align vocational training with industry needs, enhance the effectiveness of job placement, and encourage productivity improvements to strengthen the global competitiveness of Indonesian businesses and workers. “This Economic Census is for all of us, for Indonesia, and for our younger siblings and future generations. Let the industry advance, let the workers prosper. Let us make the 2026 Economic Census a success,” said the Bandung Institute of Technology professor. Meanwhile, Head of the Central Statistics Agency Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti emphasised the importance of cross-sector collaboration to ensure the success of the 2026 Economic Census. She also highlighted the need for massive dissemination of information about the census within the industrial sector, as well as concrete synergy between ministries to support the smooth process of data collection in the field.
