Minister: 15,845 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives Completed
Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono has stated that the construction of 15,845 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives (KDMP) has been completed. All of these cooperatives now have buildings, warehouses, outlets, and operational equipment in preparation for the programme’s launch in August 2026. Ferry noted that around 83,000 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives have obtained legal entity status. Of these, 15,845 have fully completed their physical construction. “So, those with 100 per cent physical buildings, warehouses, outlets, and supporting equipment total 15,845,” Ferry said during the peak celebration of the 79th National Cooperatives Day at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, 12 July 2026. According to Ferry, another 19,539 KDMP are still under construction. This number is part of approximately 35,000 cooperatives currently being prepared by the government. He added that the government is finalising training and education for KDMP managers. The training is targeted for completion by early August 2026 so that managers can be immediately placed in cooperatives that have finished their physical construction and supporting facilities. On the same occasion, Ferry requested President Prabowo Subianto to officially inaugurate the operational launch of KDMP in August. The inauguration will mark the start of operations for cooperatives ready to function across various regions. The government is targeting 40,000 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives to be operational by the end of 2026. The programme is one of the strategies to strengthen village economies through the development of cooperative institutions.
