Mining Industry Performance Impacts the National Economy, MIND ID Promotes Data-Driven Information
Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesia’s mining industry holding company, MIND ID, has committed to always providing information and understanding of issues grounded in data and facts.
MIND ID Corporate Secretary Pria Utama explained that this data-driven approach will also play a role in viewing the mining sector’s contribution to the economy in a more holistic way.
“So our hope is that what is later conveyed and written in MediaMIND is not only based on stories, but must be based on data, facts and proper analysis,” Pria said at the MediaMIND 2026 socialisation event in Jakarta on Monday, 14 September 2026.
According to him, data-based discussion will also help the public understand how the management of mineral resources delivers impact across various sectors.
Primarily on aspects covering the strengthening of national industry, downstreaming, the energy transition, and contribution to society.
Pria said the space for discussion about the mining industry needs to bring together various ideas and information, so that public understanding of the sector becomes ever broader.
“MediaMIND is not merely a journalism competition. We want to make it a collaborative space that brings together ideas, data and the best works, to enrich public understanding of how the management of mineral resources can deliver greater benefit to the nation,” he said.
Pria added that developments in Indonesia’s mining industry are of course closely tied to a number of economic issues, including investment, downstreaming, industrialisation and mineral resilience.
Discussion of the sector also encompasses environmental and social aspects, including the application of environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles, the development of green mining, and the industry’s contribution to communities surrounding operational areas.
In addition, technological developments and innovation form part of the changes in the mining industry. The use of technology can be linked to efforts to improve efficiency and develop mineral-based industries domestically.
These various aspects form part of the six themes raised by MIND ID in MediaMIND 2026, namely economics and investment, ESG and green mining, downstreaming, industrialisation and Indonesia’s mineral resilience, social contribution to communities, and transformation and innovation.
Pria said interest in discussion of the mining industry continues to grow. This is evident from the number of participants and works submitted in previous editions of MediaMIND. In 2025, MediaMIND was followed by 343 participants with a total of 794 works.
