Mining Contractors Seek Tax Relief for EV Heavy Equipment Adoption

The Executive Director of the Indonesian Mining Services Association (ASPINDO), Bambang Tjahjono, stated that Indonesia’s current large-scale coal production has reached its peak, making efforts to increase production capacity quite constrained. While it is possible to increase production by up to 20%, further increases would require the opening of new mines. Tjahjono noted that if the 2026 Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) is revised, coal production could potentially be pushed to 700 million tonnes, but targets higher than that would be difficult to achieve.

In an effort to enhance performance and business efficiency within the mining services sector, ASPINDO sees significant potential in the utilisation of electric mining vehicles, such as large EV trucks. Consequently, industry players are hoping for government support through policies that provide tax relief for heavy mining equipment.
