Minimum wage hikes agreed

SEMARANG: The local chapter of the All Indonesian Labor Union
announced that it has secured an agreement with APINDO, an
association of employers, to raise the minimum wage level in
Central Java from Rp 2,700 to Rp 3,200 as of April 1.

Tambah Sudjio, head of the union's provincial office, said
that a working meeting involving 35 chapters of the union in
Central Java agreed to put the matter before the governor for
approval, Antara reported Saturday. (sim)
