A minimarket was targeted by thieves in Gunung Sindur, Bogor, West Java. Goods were stolen and an ATM machine inside the minimarket was damaged by the perpetrators.

“The incident is true, it was burgled. We have checked the crime scene, involving the Bogor Police identification team as well, but the investigation is still ongoing,” said Gunung Sindur Police Chief Kompol Budi Santoso on Monday (22/6/2026).

Budi stated that from the crime scene investigation, damage was found on the ceiling, which is suspected to have been the perpetrators’ entry point. Additionally, police found the ATM machine inside the minimarket in a damaged condition and discovered soot suspected to be welding residue.

“From the crime scene check, it is true, we also found the ATM machine already damaged. However, regarding the amount of money lost, it cannot be disclosed yet as it is still being calculated by the bank,” said Budi.

“There are definitely items missing, but Indomaret needs to inventory what exactly is missing first. They will only report it tomorrow,” he added.

Budi mentioned that a gas cylinder was found as evidence near the ATM machine. It is suspected the perpetrators brought the gas cylinder and used it for welding and damaging the ATM machine.

“There is evidence we have seized in the form of a cylinder, we have not yet confirmed what it was used for. What is clear is that we also found burn marks on the ATM machine, we do not yet know if it was burned or caused by something else,” said Budi.

“What is certain is that we are currently still conducting an investigation, searching for clues about the perpetrators, and the crime scene has been cordoned off with police line,” he added.
