Minimarket Coffee Outlet Employee Found Dead by Hanging in Warehouse

An employee of a coffee outlet at a minimarket in Buduk Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, Bali, was found dead by hanging in the warehouse where he worked on Wednesday morning (26/8/2026).

The victim, identified by the initials YR (26), a young man from Bogor, West Java, was found hanging from a storage rack in the store’s warehouse by a colleague during the morning shift.

According to information gathered, the tragic incident was first discovered by the victim’s co-worker at around 5.20 a.m. local time. The witness, who was about to collect goods from the back warehouse, was shocked to find the victim already hanging from one of the storage racks.

Before being found dead, the victim was known to have been on the night shift with the witness since Tuesday (25/8) at 11.00 p.m. local time. His colleague had given the victim some food at around midnight.

Observations at the scene showed that the minimarket outlet, located on Jalan Raya Buduk, was no longer operating and its main door appeared tightly shut. Police line tape had also been stretched across the front area to secure the crime scene.

Dozens of residents gathered to watch the evacuation process as the victim’s body was placed into a Badung Regency PMI ambulance to be taken to the mortuary at Mangusada Regional General Hospital.

The incident suddenly shocked local residents around the scene. A resident who sells ice near the minimarket said she recognised the victim, who worked daily at the coffee outlet.

“I knew him. He was working yesterday. A man from Bogor,” she said when met near the scene.

Mengwi Police Chief, Kompol Anak Agung Gde Rai Darmayasa, confirmed the discovery of the minimarket employee’s body when contacted. However, police have not yet disclosed detailed information regarding the motive or the initial investigation findings. Meanwhile, the Badung Police Public Relations unit has not yet provided official confirmation regarding the incident.
