Minimarket Chain to Serve Three Favourite Indonesian Dishes

Three favourite Indonesian dishes—rendang sambal hijau, rawon daging sapi, and nasi goreng kampung—are at the heart of a new collaboration between Yummy Choice and culinary expert Chef William Wongso, aiming to deliver ready-to-eat meals with authentic Nusantara flavours.

Marcomm Executive Director of PT Indomarco Prismatama (Indomaret), Bastari Akmal, stated that the collaboration is part of Yummy Choice’s effort to provide ready-to-eat food that is not only practical but also offers an experience of enjoying high-quality Indonesian cuisine. The company also plans to launch a nasi goreng teri sambal hijau next month.

Chef William Wongso expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that the products will be available in 6,000 of Indomaret’s 24,000 outlets across Indonesia. ‘This introduces people from other regions to new flavours, and it is also a gift from us to citizens of other countries to introduce this Nusantara cuisine,’ he said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Wongso’s role in the collaboration involved perfecting the nasi rendang cabai hijau recipe, providing his original recipe for nasi goreng kampung, and granting approved recipe status for the rawon daging sapi and soto daging sapi. He emphasised that the deliciousness of rendang is determined not by the quantity of spices but by the balance of each element, noting there are around 1,000 variations of the rendang recipe.

Special Project Director of Indomarco Prismatama, Burhan Bahar, explained that each menu item underwent thorough discussion, evaluation, and recipe refinement to ensure a balance of flavour while reflecting the character of Nusantara cuisine and meeting Yummy Choice quality standards. The new ready-to-eat menus are priced at IDR 17,000, produced to food safety standards, and are halal-certified and BPOM-approved, available at thousands of Indomaret outlets and via the Klik Indomaret service.
