Minibus Operators Receive Rp1 Million Compensation for Puncak Route Closure During Eid 2026
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has distributed compensation totalling Rp1 million to each minibus driver and operator following the West Java Provincial Government’s decision to temporarily suspend minibus operations on the Puncak route, Bogor Regency, for five days during the 2026 Eid holiday period.
The temporary suspension of minibus operations on the Puncak route is intended to reduce potential traffic congestion in the tourist area. The policy is accompanied by compensation of Rp1 million to each affected minibus driver and operator.
“Here, almost 2,000 minibus drivers from approximately 700 fleet vehicles will receive compensation to suspend operations during the Eid holiday, so that traffic congestion at Puncak can be reduced,” said Dedi Mulyadi when presenting compensation symbolically to minibus drivers at Bogor Police Headquarters in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
According to Dedi, this measure is part of the regional government’s effort to anticipate congestion that frequently occurs in the Puncak area when public mobility increases during holiday periods, particularly during Eid.
Head of West Java Provincial Transportation Department Dhani Gumelar explained that the programme targets 2,068 minibus drivers serving routes in the Puncak area. Operational suspension will occur on 22, 23, 24, 27 and 28 March during the 2026 Eid holiday period.
“The number of drivers receiving compensation is 2,068 people. The operational suspension occurs on those five days based on survey results and predictions because community activity towards Puncak typically increases,” he said.
He added that compensation is provided at Rp200,000 per day, so the total amount each driver receives over the five days reaches Rp1 million. The compensation funds have been transferred directly to recipients’ accounts through Bank BJB.
The programme applies only to minibuses serving routes to the Puncak area. The government continues to consider the needs of the public still using public transport in other areas.
Meanwhile, Head of Traffic Division at Bogor Regency Transportation Department Dadang Kosasih stated that minibuses participating in the programme come from three main routes in the Puncak area.
