Mini tennis tour for students

SEMARANG (JP): The Central Java chapter of the Indonesian
Tennis Association is organizing a mini tennis tournament for
elementary school students.

"We expect to recruit talented young players from the
tournament. We have been organizing the tournament since 1999 for
elementary school students in Ambarawa," the chairman of the
chapter's athlete development division, Soehartono Lenggono,
said.

"We also expect players from neighboring ASEAN countries to
take part in next year's tournament," he added.

The tournament will take place in Ambarawa sometime early next
year. Soehartono, however, did not give an exact date.

"I'm sure many players will take part in next year's
tournament because many players participated in past events. We
also plan to develop the tournament so it will feature
international players," he said.

"Besides Ambarawa, we will also stage mini tennis tournaments
in other Central Java cities, especially those with potential
tennis players like Banyumas, Kudus, Pekalongan, Purwokerto,
Salatiga, Surakarta and Tegal," Soehartono added. (har)
